A Letter for an Old Friend
There are times still today
when you run across my mind
I wonder how you're doing
and if your life is kind
Many things have changed now
since the days I called you friend
And though I'll always love you
Our contact had to end
You only wanted good for me,
please believe that this I know.
And maybe in a different life
I wouldn't have had to go.
It just didn't turn out right;
our stories didn't mesh.
My insecurity took hold,
I couldn't past the test.
I wasn't strong enough for you,
your fearlessness and brazen ways
I couldn't stop the way I felt
or the way anxiety would lay
To this day, I still don't know
