If every persons religion is their own concern, why are so many concerned with other peoples religion?

Interesting, is it not?

I think so.

I believe in a higher power, whether you do or not, that doesn't matter to me, and it shouldn't. You shouldn't care about what religion, if any, I profess to follow.

Personally, I don't follow any set religion, simply because, from my point of view, religion  has caused more pain, suffering, and death, than any other thing in human history. Some say that it has caused more than all other things combined. I'm not certain whether I agree with that, not yet. I don't believe in causing pain, I believe in relieving it.

See, to me, religion asks, tells, and demands that we do the one thing that we really shouldn't: Close our minds and accept what someone else tells us as fact.

When a pastor, preacher, priest, or any kind of "holy person" gives a sermon, what you are getting is their interpretation of what's being talked about. Sermons are not group discussions, you are being told what to think and believe.

What if all religions have it wrong? What do you do then?

I believe in a higher power, and that it created the universe. When, how, and why are immaterial to me, We, and all around us, are here, that is what matters.

Let me be clear, I am not attacking religion it's self, I'm raising questions about organized religion, the various denominations of faith.

God is God, and it doesn't matter how you were raised, nor what religion you subscribe to, nothing changes that. We believe in the same God, but WHAT we believe varies with the telling. In reality, every single persons beliefs are different.

All major religions forbid the killing of another human being, and yet, more people have died "in the name of God" than any other way. Does that make sense to ANYONE?

It makes NO sense to me.

"God" has never once told me to kill anyone, those were choices I made for myself, "God" factored into it not at all.

All major religions profess to speak for God, and I find that disturbing in the extreme. The "voice of God" should not be elected by men.

God speaks to all of us, no matter what faith, and he/she speaks to all of us differently.

No one person can know the mind of God.

We are preached at and taught that God sees all and that we will punished for our wrong doings in the afterlife, if there is one. In a universe of trillions upon trillions of planets, moons, and stars, do you really think that the Lord and Master of it all pays that much attention to one tiny little planet?

Of course not. It is a conception that we as humans have created to make ourselves seem larger in a universe that is huge beyond imagining, that we don't understand, and that we are a small, very small, part of.

It's ego and conceit, nothing more.

For all we know, there are billions of planets just like Earth, with people, just like Earth, but our sense of being alone in the universe makes us presume things we should not, not if we truly believe in God.

All that God really asks, I feel, is that we live as best we can, and take care of the home that has been entrusted to us.

We can do a much better job of both of those, I think. But even if we fail in our tasks, it is not God that suffers, it is us, and those that come after.

Too many people have their heads among the stars while their feet are here upon the Earth.

Understanding God isn't going to make our world a better place, only our own actions will do this.

Another thing that disturbs me is that churches always say that God needs money, and that ten percent of what you earn should go to God.

Excuse me? I must be hearing things.

The Lord and Master of the universe does not need our money, God doesn't need money at all. Churches, RELIGIONS, need the money. It's a simple matter of greed, nothing more. They want what we have, and they want it for free.

I believe in a higher power whom I choose to call God. My belief, my choice, made after years of thinking, searching, and learning.

I will not indoctrinate my daughter into a religious faith, I feel it is HER choice to be made, when she can understand what that entails. All I can do id teach her as best I can how to live a good life, and help her understand that an open mind is a good thing.

I have no problem with anyone or their choice, as long as they chose it for themselves, and they understand that choice. I do not subscribe to a religion, that is MY choice.

My relationship with God is personal, it is mine, and that is the same for every single being in the universe for one simple reason:

No matter who we are, where we're from, or what we are taught, every mind is different, and so we all see EVERYTHING differently. Nothing can change that.

And nothing should.

Our individuality is the greatest gift we could have ever been given, and it saddens me that so many have freely given it away.

I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, I would be disturbed if many did. All I'm doing is stating my case and how I feel, in an attempt to get you to do one thing:

Think for yourself, so that you can be yourself.

After all is said and done, that is all that we can do.

Think about it.

Open your mind.

Yes, this is a resubmit, my watchers have convinced me to ignore small minded people who refuse to think for themselves.

This piece does not attack any particular faith, it is not aimed at any particular person.

It is me speaking MY mind, MY thoughts, how I see things.

Intelligent, I stress INTELLIGENT conversation is encouraged, if you have nothing but negative things to say, please don't say them.

And don't flame me, or send me dirty notes telling me I'm a heathen and that I'm going to burn in Hell.

Cause I don't agree with you. ;)

Don't hate, RELATE. :iconyesyesyesplz:

Nice piece :)
Can I use this in my newsletter? It is available to read in my gallery.

May I ask,
Why is it that you believe in God? What kind of God do you believe in?
